Oncology Services

Philosophy

Fundamental network facilities are committed to utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach for improving the medical, functional, and psychological status of patients being treated for primary or metastic cancer and its systemic effect.

Oncology services include many levels of care to maximize patient independence and decision-making during this phase of life. Thanks to advances in medical treatment, oncology patients are living longer and cancer is now referred to as a chronic illness. As such, it creates physical and psychosocial problems that require a comprehensive interdisciplinary team approach to patient care.

The primary focus of oncology services is to improve the quality of life for these patients, rather than simply teaching them to cope with the limitations the disease may bring. There is a dual challenge of coping with an ongoing and possibly terminal disease, as well as with any accompanying functional deficits.
